Zusammenfassung

Edith Hankes Zusammenstellung der weltweiten Weber-Übersetzungen, welche die Verbreitung dieses Denkens eindrucksvoll bezeugt, macht unwillkürlich bewusst, wie wichtig das Thema »Max Weber auf Englisch« ist (Hanke 2013). Einige Sprachen – so das Portugiesische und auch das Türkische – können die komplexe Syntax der Weber’schen Originaltexte offenbar nicht abbilden und müssen sich bei Übersetzungen deren Übertragungen ins Englische bedienen, die mit kürzeren Sätzen arbeiten und scheinbar präzis(er) klingende Aussagen enthalten.
