Fristentransformation – sprich die Umwandlung kurzfristiger Einlagen in langfristige Kredite – gehört zu den wichtigsten Funktionen von Finanzintermediären überhaupt. Viele Banken agieren zudem international. Dadurch werden Banken zwei unterschiedlichen Risiken ausgesetzt, für die sie mit entsprechenden Risikoprämien entschädigt werden.
