Abstract
The ability of appropriately coping with danger is indispensable for every living organism. Learning to recognize and avoid life-threatening situations and to respond adequately enhances survival. Hence, in the light of evolution fear and anxiety have developed as emotional strategies to help identifying risk and thereby influencing an animal’s fitness essentially (Mineka & Öhman, 2002).
