Abstract

This book is breaking new ground in terms of data and the operationalization of the dependent variable. Therefore, a detailed description of the methodological issues is vital. In order to accomplish this, Chapter 5 focuses on the variables, data and methods that are applied in the subsequent analysis of the impact of party ideology on policies. It then continues with an extensive technical description of a new dataset on social and economic policy measures.
