Zusammenfassung
Sogenannte frozen conflicts zwischen seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten de facto-existierenden, aber auf der internationalen Ebene nicht-anerkannten quasi-staatlichen Entitäten und de iure-Staaten, die aus der ehemaligen Sowjetunion (UdSSR) hervorgegangen sind, gelten als Erbe des kollidierten sowjetischen Ethnoföderalismus (Zürcher 2007, S. 4, 23 – 36, Bahcheli et al. 2004a, S. 1 – 9). Die Konfliktgemengelagen zwischen Georgien und den abtrünnigen Gebietseinheiten Abchasien und Süd-Ossetien sowie zwischen der Republik Moldau und Transnistrien sind einschlägige Beispiele für dieses Phänomen.
