Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Wettbewerb „Gesundheitsregionen der Zukunft: Fortschritt durch Forschung und Innovation“ erweiterte das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) im Jahr 2009 die regionalisierte Innovationsförderung auf das Gesundheitswesen. Wie schon zuvor bei den Wettbewerben „BioRegio“, „Spitzencluster“ oder „Forschungscampus: öffentlich-private Partnerschaft für Innovation“ bedient sich der Bund auch hierbei gezielt regionaler Strukturen und Potenziale in Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft, um auf dieser Grundlage technologische Entwicklungen, Innovationen oder Leitmärkte zu erschließen.
