Zusammenfassung

Die Bedeutung von Patenten hat in den letzten Jahren erheblich zugenommen. Dies spiegelt sich in den weltweit stark ansteigenden Patentanmeldezahlen wider. Seit 2004 sind die weltweiten Patentanmeldungen im Durchschnitt jährlich um 6,7 % angestiegen (Im Jahr 2009 gab es eine Ausnahme mit einem Minus von 3,6%.) und das jährliche Patentanmeldevolumen weltweit betrug im Jahr 2012 ca. 2,4 Millionen Patentanmeldungen, im Vergleich zu ca. 1 Million Patentanmeldungen im Jahr 1995 (WIPO, 2013).
