Die Stichprobentheorie ist das Teilgebiet der Induktiven Statistik, das die theoretischen Grundlagen und die mathematisch-statistischen Verfahren für die Auswahl einer bestimmten Menge von Merkmalsträgern aus einer Grundgesamtheit zum Zwecke des Schlusses vom Teil aufs Ganze bereitstellt.
