Zusammenfassung
Nach allgemeiner Überzeugung hat die Internationalisierung der Wirtschaft, d. h. der grenzüberschreitende Verkehr von Gütern, Diensten, Kapital und Arbeit, positive Auswirkungen auf Wachstum und Wohlfahrt. Allerdings verlief der Prozess nie reibungslos. Kriege und Krisen treffen zuerst die offenen Wirtschaften. Dann werden Grenzen undurchdringlicher oder ganz geschlossen, und der internationale Austausch wird heruntergefahren, wenn nicht eingefroren.
