Zusammenfassung
In wenigen Jahren werden die ersten selbstfahrenden Fahrzeuge am Straßenverkehr teilnehmen. Der Fortschritt ist rasant: Immer leistungsfähigere Fahrerassistenzsysteme verdeutlichen das Potenzial dieser Technologie. Erhebliche Fortschritte sind zudem bei der Entwicklung voll autonomer Fahrzeuge zu beobachten, die nicht nur auf der Autobahn sondern auch im Stadtverkehr ohne menschliches Eingreifen fahren können. Prototypen von Google haben bereits mehr als eine halbe Million Kilometer in der Stadt, auf Landstraßen und auf Autobahnen im fahrerlosen Testbetrieb zurückgelegt. Google hat angekündigt, dass seine Technologie nicht später als im Jahr 2018 die Serienreife erreicht haben wird [1]. Google ist bei weitem nicht die einzige Organisation, die an voll autonomen Fahrzeugen arbeitet.
