Abstract

The political system of the USA is characterised by American exceptionalism. The United States cannot be understood without her founding myth of a chosen people. The American nation manifests itself in religious and moral terms. The religious notion is reaffirmed by evoking the Old Testament a nation under God, whereas the moral justification is brought forward to ascertain that the American nation embodies the Good in the world.
