Tatsächlich bestätigen die vielfältigen Jahresberichte zur globalen Umweltsituation (z.B. die Global Environment Outlooks der UNEP, zuletzt 2011), dass zahlreiche Problemfelder trotz bisheriger Bemühungen regionaler, nationaler und internationaler Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitspolitik nach wie vor ungelöst bleiben.
