Abstract

For decades the question of the firm’s optimal diversification strategy has been at the center of the strategic management discipline. It has attracted scholars from a number of other fields including finance, industrial economics, and sociology and has led to an extensive body of conceptual and empirical studies. Even so, the discussion in section 3.5 shows that conclusive results and a common understanding have yet to be.
