Zusammenfassung
Im Zentrum dieses Kapitels stehen Geschäftsmodellinnovationen und deren Bedeutung für Unternehmen und Forschung. Das Konzept von Geschäftsmodellen wird vorgestellt und die Gründe analysiert, warum allgemein anerkannte Definitionen bislang fehlen. Die Relevanz der Fähigkeit zur Geschäftsmodellinnovation für Start-ups als auch für etablierte Unternehmen wird präsentiert. Es wird dargelegt, warum Unternehmen sich nicht mehr ausschließlich auf Produkt- oder Prozessinnovationen konzentrieren sollten, um langfristig erfolgreich zu sein. Zudem werden die Verbindungen zwischen Entrepreneurship- und Geschäftsmodellforschung aufgezeigt und auf deren Parallelen hingewiesen.
