Zusammenfassung

Nachhaltige Entwicklung ist das wahrscheinlich bedeutsamste Thema der Zivilgesellschaft des 21. Jahrhunderts. Das Ozonloch, der Klimawandel, die Zerstörung der Biodiversität, die Überfischung der Meere, Urbanisation oder das Armutsgefälle zwischen der Nord- und der Südhalbkugel sind nur einige der Konsequenzen menschlichen Handelns, denen es durch eine nachhaltige Entwicklung zu begegnen gilt. Handeln gemäß dem Prinzip der Nachhaltigkeit zielt darauf, Ressourcen so zu nutzen, dass sich die Umwelt möglichst auf natürliche Weise regenerieren kann und die Weltgesellschaft in lebenswerter Weise gestaltet wird.
