Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag behandelt die Entwicklung der Teildisziplin „Vergleichende Politikwissenschaft“ beziehungsweise „comparative politics“. Gezeigt werden deren Ausdifferenzierung und ihre konzeptionellen und methodischen Grundlagen. Diese haben eine eigene Entwicklungsgeschichte und einen speziellen Stellenwert für die VP. Hieran schließt sich eine detaillierte Betrachtung wichtiger neuerer Forschungsetappen und inhaltlicher Weiterentwicklungen an. Betont wird die enge Verbundenheit der politischen Entwicklungen mit den jeweils aktuellen Forschungsfragen. Zum Schluss wird auf aktuelle Herausforderungen im Sinne wieder verschwimmender Fachgrenzen, auf Mehrebenenanalysen und interdisziplinäre Ansätze eingegangen.
