Zusammenfassung
Im Mittelpunkt des Kapitels steht die soziale Mobilität im Arbeitsmarkt, also die Mobilität zwischen verschiedenen sozioökonomischen Positionen oder Berufsklassen. Individuelles Einkommen und soziales Ansehen werden wesentlich durch die Position innerhalb dieser Berufsklassen bestimmt. Zunächst erläutert das Kapitel grundlegende (theoretische) Konzepte von Klassen und Klassenwechseln. Anschließend werden die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der soziologischen Mobilitätsforschung skizziert.
Die Autoren danken Walter Müller, Karin Kurz, Johannes Berger, Martin Abraham, Katrin Auspurg und Claudia Diehl für hilfreiche Kommentare und Hinweise.
