Zusammenfassung

Eilean Hooper-Greenhill (geb. 1945) zählt zu den wichtigsten VertreterInnen der britischen Museum Studies. Sie wurde 2002 im Rahmen einer Befragung der britischen Tageszeitung The Independent von Peers zu einer der ›Top Ten leading people in museums in the UK‹ gewählt. (University of Leicester 2002) Im deutschsprachigen Raum werden ihre Arbeiten dagegen bisher nur vereinzelt rezipiert. (vgl. etwa Waidacher 1999; Kamel 2004 und 2014; Laukötter 2007; Baur 2009; Reussner 2010; te Heesen 2010 und 2012; Prinz/Reckwitz 2012; Kirchberg/Tröndle 2012; Noschka-Roos/Lewalter 2013) Diese Rezeptionsverzögerung erstaunt nicht zuletzt angesichts der Tatsache, dass die Themen, die seit Anfang der 1990er-Jahre im Fokus ihrer Arbeit stehen, international Konjunktur haben und in zahlreichen Publikationen verhandelt werden.
