Zusammenfassung

Mit dem Zusammenbruch der globalen Finanzmärkte wurde deutlich vor Augen geführt, dass der zuvor vielgelobte Monetarismus als Großprojekt auf falschen Voraussetzungen fußt. Das freie Spiel der Marktkräfte führte auf den Finanzmärkten nicht zu einem stabilen Gleichgewicht, sondern zur Herausbildung eines Kasinokapitalismus, dessen Ausmaß selbst Susan Strange überraschen würde (siehe hierfür insbesondere Strange 1986).
