Zusammenfassung
Wenn man irgendeine der handelsüblichen Zahlen quadriert, so ist das Ergebnis positiv: 3 mal 3 ist 9, aber auch minus 4 mal minus 4 ist positiv, nämlich gleich 16. Deswegen ist nicht so ganz klar, wie man sich eine Zahl vorstellen soll, deren Quadrat negativ ist.
