Zusammenfassung
Wenn Organisationsmitglieder zur Orientierung ihres Handelns allein das machten, was auf dem Papier steht, wenn sie nicht auch das verstehen könnten, was zwischen den Zeilen steht, wenn Organisationen sich auf ihre formalen Strukturen und Verfahren reduzieren ließen, dann gäbe es sie nicht. Diese Aussage scheint ein wenig zugespitzt formuliert und eigentlich unmittelbar einsichtig – jede/r, der bzw. die in irgendeiner Form in Organisationen eingebunden ist, weiß, dass es neben förmlichen Vorschriften und offiziellen Vorgängen immer auch ungeschriebene Regeln und vielfältige Handlungsoptionen abseits des Dienstwegs gibt. Sinnvoll ist die Aussage in ihrer Zuspitzung daher erst, wenn man sich den Hintergrund vergegenwärtigt: die mit Beginn der Organisationsforschung etablierte und seitdem zu einem zentralen Bezugspunkt der Analyse, wenn nicht zu einem Kern der Definition von Organisation, gewordene Unterscheidung von Formalität und Informalität in Organisationen.
