Zusammenfassung

Educational cost reductions immediately translate into stronger productivity. This chapter argues that the need to trim educational costs also has a strategic dimension that is easily overlooked. The first section of this chapter offers an introduction into the theory of disruptive innovation. The second section highlights disruptive threats to traditional higher education. The final section explores ways for traditional institutions to protect themselves against these threats.
