Zusammenfassung

Zahnschäden sowie Weichteilverletzungen im Bereich der Mundhöhle zählen zu den häufigsten Komplikationen während einer Allgemeinanästhesie. Diese Verletzungen können während der Laryngoskopie auftreten, sie können jedoch auch dann entstehen, wenn der Patient während der Ausleitungsphase einer Narkose, unruhig und agitiert, auf den oropharyngealen Tubus beißt. Ungefähr 50% all dieser Ereignisse treten, retrospektiv betrachtet, während schwieriger Intubationen oder bei Notfallintubationen auf, und die meisten der im Rahmen dieser Manöver beschädigten Zähne waren entweder bereits erkrankt oder restaurativ versorgt und somit in ihrer Festigkeit wesentlich beeinträchtigt (Burton et al. 1987; Lockart et al. 1986).
