Zusammenfassung

Im Mediastinum findet sich eine Vielzahl von primären gutartigen und bösartigen Tumoren (s. 4.2.2.), wobei die meisten gutartig sind. Gelegentlich jedoch bereiten sie diagnostisch und differentialdiagnostisch Schwierigkeiten. Nachfolgend werden die diagnostischen und die therapeutischen Besonderheiten dieser zum Teil selten vorkommenden Tumoren (z. B. atriales Paragangliom und Chemodektom) herausgestellt. Die folgenden Raumforderungen werden besprochen:

  • zystische Tumoren,

  • Teratodermoidtumoren,

  • intrathorakale Strumen,

  • mesenchymale, neurogene und endokrine Tumoren sowie Keimzelltumoren;

Lymphome und Thymustumoren werden an anderer Stelle abgehandelt.
