Zusammenfassung
Die akute Pankreatitis stellt eine seltene, jedoch zum Teil letal verlaufende toxische Nebenwirkung unter Valproinsäure (VPA) dar. Betroffen sind vornehmlich Kinder und Jugendliche während des ersten Jahres nach VPA-Therapiebeginn. Klinische Symptome gehen offensichtlich laborchemischen Veränderungen voraus. Zur Früherkennung der VPA-induzierten Pankreatitis sind engmaschige klinische Kontrollen im ersten Therapiejahr notwendig.
