Zusammenfassung
Das Lennox-Gastaut-Syndrom gehört zu den am schwierigsten behandelbaren Epilepsien im Kindesalter. Bei sorgfältiger Therapieplanung und konsequenter -durchführung können dennoch bei einer Reihe von Kindern die Verläufe deutlich gemildert werden. Dabei gilt der Grundsatz „weniger ist oft mehr“, das heißt, ein oder zwei Medikamente genügen, mehr als zwei sind eher schädlich. VPA hat sich bei uns als wirksame Substanz in Monotherapie oder Zweierkombination erwiesen, es wird allerdings häufig zu niedrig dosiert.
