Zusammenfassung
Diagnostik und Therapie in der Kardiologie bauen heutzutage mehr denn je auf Physiologie und Pathophysiologie auf. Aus der Kenntnis der Anpassungsmöglichkeiten des gesunden und kranken Herzens an akute Belastungssituationen sind eine Reihe von Meßverfahren hervorgegangen, die eine Frühdiagnostik einer beginnenden Funktionsstörung, z.B. der Myokardkontraktion oder Koronardurchblutung, erlauben. Sie stellen die Voraussetzung für eine rechtzeitige und gezielte Therapie dar. Auch hinsichtlich Vitienchirurgie und Herztransplantation baut man bei der Operationsindikation heute zusätzlich auf Ergebnissen der Funktionsdiagnostik auf und nicht mehr allein auf Beschwerdebild und klinischer Symptomatik. Die Kenntnis der Anpassungsmöglichkeiten des gesunden und kranken Herzens an chronische Belastungssituationen ist Vorbedingung für die richtige Einschätzung der klinischen Befunde und des Verlaufes einer Herzerkrankung.
Fundierte Kenntnisse in der Physiologie und Pathophysiologie sind die Voraussetzung für die ärztliche Tätigkeit, das gilt besonders für den Bereich der Kardiologie.
