Zusammenfassung

Der Anteil alter Menschen an der Bevölkerung nimmt in den westeuropäischen Industrienationen stetig zu. Nach Link [62] ist der Prozentsatz an Anästhesien bei über 70jährigen von 12,6% im Jahr 1974 auf 15,2% im Jahr 1979 gestiegen. Die Ursache dafir ist einerseits die steigende Lebenserwartung; andererseits stagniert die Geburtenrate, so daß bis zum Jahr 2006 eine weitere Zunahme des Anteils alter Menschen an der Gesamtbevölkerung prognostiziert wird [20].
