Zusammenfassung
Das Gesundheitsstrukturreformgesetz sieht eine Ausweitung des ambulanten Operierens vor. Alle Operationen, die aus medizinischer Indikation nicht vollstationär durchgeführt werden müssen, sollen prinzipiell als teilstationäre oder ambulante Leistungen erbracht werden. Ausgehend von der Notwendigkeit der Kostenbegrenzung im Gesundheitswesen hat die ambulante Durchführung operativer Eingriffe und damit auch von Anästhesieverfahren deshalb zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen. In den USA werden etwa die Hälfte der 22 Mio. jährlichen operativen Eingriffe ambulant durchgeführt [9]. Nach Berechnungen den Zentralinstituts für die kassenärztliche Versorgung sind es in Deutschland 1991 erst rund 1,8 Mio. ambulante Operationen gewesen, davon 5% in Krankenhäusern. Nach einer weit verbreiteten Ansicht könnten aber 20–40% aller operativen Eingriffe ambulant durchgeführt werden, bei Kindern sogar noch mehr [14].
