In the history of clinical diabetes there have never been so many unequivocal indications of the decisive importance of patient education for public health as there are at present (Assal et al. 1985). Unfortunately, however, there still appear to be serious obstacles to training insulin-treated diabetic patients to manage their own insulin therapy.
