Abstract
Complex patterns can be produced during the processes of relaxation to a steady uniform state. In this case one finds the relative selective amplification of certain spatial modes due to variations in their damping rates. The hierarchy of characteristic relaxation times of different modes, including very long scales, reveals itself in more complicated laws of relaxation. For instance, a simple exponential dependence can be replaced by some power law.
