Zusammenfassung

Die Bildung einer diabetischen Nephropathie ist eine häufige Komplikation des Insulin-abhängigen Typ-I-Diabetes und wird in der Literatur mit 30–50% angegeben (2). Typischerweise führt der Typ-II-Diabetes viel seltener zu Nephropathie, obwohl in Zentren mit vorwiegend schwarzen Patienten die Mehrheit der neuen Dialysepatienten Schwarze mit Typ-Il-Diabetes (und Hypertonie) ausmachen.
