Zusammenfassung
Über (chirurgisch) eröffnete, nichtkollabierende Venen kann — bei entsprechendem Druckgradienten zum Rechtsherz — Luft in das Gefäßsystem eintreten. Sitzende Lagerung sowie die Inspirationsphase bei Spontanatmung erhöhen den Druckgradienten und begünstigen damit das Entstehen einer Luftembolie. Nichtkollabierende Venen sind die Vv. epiploicae, Vv. diploicae, die Vv. emissariae und die Sinus durae matris, Venen des Halses, die durch Faszienzug oder Einbettung im Strumagewebe offengehalten werden, und evtl. auch Venen in koaguliertem Operationsgebiet. Zentralvenös mündende Katheter stellen bereits bei Diskonnektion, periphere intravenöse Leitungen zumindest bei Druckinfusion potentielle Eintrittspforten für Luft dar.
