Zusammenfassung

Die Messung kann im Haupt- oder Nebenstrom erfolgen. Bei der Hauptstrommessung liegt der Sensor direkt im Atmungssystem und mißt ohne Volumenverlust. Bei der zumeist angewandten Messung im Nebenstrom wird hingegen kontinuierlich eine Gasprobe über eine Nebenleitung entnommen und ggf. nach der Messung wieder in das Atmungssystem rückgeführt; allerdings können hierdurch hygienische Probleme entstehen.
