Zusammenfassung

Die Wirbels,ule und der Spinalkanal stellen für die MRT besonders geeignete Untersuchungsregionen dar, da die MRT eine multiplanare und übersichtliche Abbildung größerer Wirbelsäulenabschnitte erlaubt. Dazu kommen als weitere Vorteile der hohe Weichteilkontrast und das Fehlen von Knochenaufhärtungsartefakten. So hat die Einführung der MRT zu einer Umorientierung des diagnostischen Vorgehens bei verschiedenen Erkrankungen der Wirbelsäule und des Spinalkanals geführt. Die Indikationsbreite der etablierten diagnostischen Verfahren, wie Computertomographie, Myelographie und Myelo-CT wird eine deutliche Einschränkung erfahren.
