Abstract
Gallstones have two very different ultrasonographic appearance: in some cases the number of stones is so large that the entire gallbladder is filled with calculi, whereas in others there may be a single or a few calculi free within the bile-filled viscus. I shall begin by examining the second case which is more frequent. There are two types of ultrasonographic signs of calculi that fill the gallbladder incompletely: direct and indirect.
