Abstract

Neoplasms of the parotid, submaxillary (submandibular), and sublingual salivary glands of the mouse are rare events but when encountered appear as reddish-yellow masses in the subcutis of the ventral neck. Identification of the specific salivary gland involved is not always possible grossly and sometimes not even microscopically. Consistency of the mass may vary from firm to soft. Soft tumors may result in the formation of cysts, undergo necrosis, and rupture.
