Abstract
On the background of the evolution of different graphics packages and based on the desire to start activities in the field of Computer Graphics standardization, working groups and formal committees started working about 1975. Major efforts were untertaken in the United States, in Germany, in the United Kingdom, and internationally in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
