Zusammenfassung

Das hypothalamo-hypophysäre System ist ein Knotenpunkt und eine zentrale Schaltstelle für die Regulation einer Vielzahl vitaler Vorgänge, welche auf neuralem oder endokrinem Weg reguliert werden. Die anatomisch und funktionell nahe Verbindung zum autonomen Nervensystem wird durch die neueren Erkenntnisse der Neurotransmittersteuerung hypothala- mischer Hormone unterstützt. Die enge Verflechtung des neuralen und humoralen Regulationssystems wird zudem durch die intrazerebrale Verteilung von Releasinghormonen, Hypophysenvorderlappenpeptiden und „ga- strointestinalen’“Hormonen (brain-gut-hormones) im zentralen Nervensystem auch außerhalb des Hypothalamus unterstrichen. Die Untersuchungen der Wechselwirkungen zwischen Neurotransmittersubstanzen und hypothalamischen Hormonen auf den Hypophysenvorderlappen einerseits und auf kortikale Funktionen andererseits, sind im Fluß. Die biochemischen Hinweise auf die Verknüpfung zwischen Endokrinologie, Neuroen- dokrinologie, Neurologie und Verhaltensforschung sowie Psychiatrie, eröffnen ein komplexes Spektrum. Die Physiologie, Pathophysiologie und pharmakologische Beeinflussung dieser komplizierten Interaktionen sind ein aktuelles Forschungsfeld [1,2].
