Zusammenfassung

Wachstum bedeutet Zunahme biologischer Größen, z.B. der Zellmasse, der Körperlänge, des Körpergewichts, der Muskelkraft oder der Sekretionsleistung von Drüsen. Damit ist insbesondere gesagt, daß Wachstum auch Ausdruck einer funktionellen Leistung bzw. Differenzierung ist. Wenn man also über Wachstum diskutiert, muß festgelegt werden, welches Wachstum es anzusprechen gilt. Dabei ist jedoch zu bedenken, daß systematisches Wachstum nie isoliert abläuft, ein bestimmtes Wachstum also aus seiner Integration in einen biologischen Gesamtplan verstanden und erläutert werden sollte.
