Abstract
The tissue of the normal iris is extremely mobile and distensible. This reduces its sectility and proneness to injury despite its delicate structure. The normal iris is elastic and has a tendency to reassume its original shape even after extensive distortion (Fig. 271). In contrast, the pathologically altered iris ruptures easily and is very difficult to reposition, especially if the tissue has undergone structural changes in an abnormal position1.
