Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz von Hirntumoren liegt bei 4,5/100000. Bei Kindern machen sie rund 50% aller soliden Tumoren aus. Sie können — nach histologischen Kriterien — maligne oder benigne sein, wobei histologisch zwar benigne Hirntumoren aufgrund ihrer Lage und chirurgischen Unzugänglichkeit wie Malignóme verlaufen können. Mehr als 20% der Hirngeschwülste sind Metastasen extrazerebral gelegener Tumoren. Dabei kommen als Primärlokalisation die Lungen, die Mammae, das Kolon und die Haut (malignes Melanom) in erster Linie in Frage, während andere Primärtumoren nur ausnahmsweise in Betracht gezogen werden müssen. Solche Hirnmetastasen sind in etwa 50% der Fälle multipel wenn die Diagnose zu Lebzeiten gestellt wird. Bei der Autopsie sind in über 75% der Fälle multiple Metastasen zu finden.
