Zusammenfassung
Bei Patienten mit Bewußtseinsstörungen kann die motorische Aktivität vermindert (Sopor, Koma) oder gesteigert sein (maniforme Erregungszustände, Delir). Die Alterationen des Bewußtseins reichen von der Erschwerung bestimmter geistiger Funktionen bis zum Bewußtseinsverlust. Dabei richten sich die noch vorhandenen Reaktionsmöglichkeiten nach der Art und Stärke gegebener Reize, ferner nach der übrigen körperlichen und emotionalen Verfassung des Kranken. Zu den Ursachen der Bewußtseinsstörungen zählen Verletzungen, cerebrovasculäre Ereignisse, Arzneimittel- und Giftwirkungen, Fieber, Entgleisungen des Stoffwechsels, Meningitis, Infektionen mit massiver Beeinträchtigung des Allgemeinbefindens, Hirntumoren, Krampfleiden und Herzinsuffizienzen.
