Abstract
Expectorants, or mucoactive drugs for the treatment of pulmonary disorders associated with abnormal mucus, have been included in ancient Materia Medica over centuries of medical history. Some in use today are derivatives of those naturally occurring substances that have long been recommended as beneficial in the treatment of respiratory congestion.
