Das Coma diabeticum ist das Endstadium eines entgleisten, unbehandelten Diabetes mellitus, dem nach Marble in der Vorinsulinära etwa 87% (63,8% nach Root) erlagen; heute sterben dank der Insulinbehandlung etwa 1,5% aller Diabetiker im Coma diabeticum.
