Abstract

In 1921, Ewing distinguished among round-cell sarcomas a tumour of particularly grave prognosis which he regarded as an endothelioma of bone. Over the decades, discussions on the histiogenesis of this tumour have not provided an unequivocal answer to its origin, and the term “Ewing’s sarcoma” without reference to the origin of the cell, has been generally accepted.
