Zusammenfassung

Bei der Anwendung diskriminanzanalytischer Verfahren in der Medizin ist es häufig nicht möglich, von Variablen auszugehen, die metrisches Skalenniveau besitzen. Die für die Klassifikation interessanten Variablen sind oft qualitativ und besitzen Nominal-,bestenfalls noch Ordinalskalenniveau. Um Methoden, die diesem Skalenniveau Rechnung tragen, von herkömmlichen metrischen Verfahren zu unterscheiden, spricht man von diskreter Diskriminanzanalyse oder diskreter Klassifikation (Goldstein und Dillon (1978)).
