The results of temperature measurements are summarized, analyzed, and interpreted in terms of main geostructural units in Bulgaria. Maps of deep temperatures and geothermal gradient at 500 m depth are presented. Special attention was paid to the thermal fields of the Moesian Plate and of the Balkan Foreland Mountain range. Among the essential factors controlling the temperature distribution one can mention young sedimentary depressions, active fault systems, magmatic activity, and thermomineral springs.
