Zusammenfassung

Eine kurze, klare Darstellung der Flechtenkunde wurde von Hale (1) geschrieben. Ahmadjian verfaßte (1) einen Abriß sowie (2) eine Einführung in die Biologie der Symbiose in ihren verschiedenen Aspekten. Zur Biologie vgl. auch Tomaselli. Steiner gab einen Überblick über Wachstums- und Entwicklungsphysiologie, Schade (1) berichtete über Wesen und Bedeutung der Flechten, Poelt (1) über die heutigen Probleme der Flechtenkunde. In einem Versuch, den Artbegriff bei Flechten zu definieren, wandte sich Almborn gegen eine Überschätzung feinster anatomischer Details und rein chemischer Differenzen als Artmerkmale. „Gute“ Flechtenarten sollten in den meisten, wenn nicht in allen Fällen — wenn voll entwickelt — makroskopisch, d. h. zumindest mit Hilfe von Lupen, erkannt werden können.
