Kinin Formation and Destruction in Fluid Produced by a Strangulated Segment of Ileum in the Rat

Abstract

Intestinal obstruction is still a serious ailment with relatively high mortality (Troell, 1954; Höyer and Solheim, 1959). There are two main forms of this ailment. One is the simple obstruction of the intestine, the other the so-called strangulation obstruction in which the obstruction to intestinal passage is caused by strangulation of a segment of intestine. The two forms are illustrated in Fig. 1.
